The Achievement Awards ceremony was established in 2005, by Margaret Noel founder of Descendants. Margaret was inspired by her sister Kim Noel, who unexpectedly passed away in 2004, aged 35. Kim always continued to ‘Aim higher’ even after having a mental health breakdown. The awards recognises the achievements and attainments of children and young people of African and Caribbean descent. Ealing schools are asked to nominate pupils in year 6 primary and all secondary and special education pupils in the following Categories: -

• Students who excel in all areas of their education.
• Students who work hard and achieve against all the odds.
• Student of the Year – male young person.
• Student of the Year – female young person.
• Students who excel in Arts.
• Students who excel in Sports.
• Students with Entrepreneurial vision (NEW CATEGORY added last year)
• Overall Outstanding Student.
