Thanks For The Memories!

Thanksgiving Service Volunteers

Descendants 25th Anniversary celebrations have now officially begun with our first key events: our Thanksgiving Service and Reception.

Margaret Noel, Founder of Descendants, reports back on a very special evening.

Descendants Thanksgiving Service on Saturday (13th October) at Our Lady Of Lourdes Church, Acton was extremely successful. It was well attended by many past Descendants attendees and their parents, with some of  the young people taking part in the service, which was officiated by a visiting priest from Goa. Celestina, Descendants’ chair led the singing.

Special guests included: Councillor Dr Patricia Walker (Mayor of London Borough of Ealing) and her husband Dr Walker, Councillor Abdullah Gulaid (Deputy Mayor of London Borough of Ealing), Mr Richard Kornicki CBE DL (Representative Deputy Lieutenant for the London Borough of Ealing)Camara Fearon (Descendants Patron) accompanied by her Parents.

Mr Gallagher, headmaster at St Vincent when Descendants was established in 1993, did a reading as did Stephanie, one of the first Children to attend Descendants.

Following the service, we gathered together in the Parish Hall where Descendants began 25 years ago. Many Children, Community members, friends, past and present Volunteers came together to reminisce, look at the display, check out the old photos and share memories whilst enjoying the refreshment.

We were joined by Yvonne Gabriel, a past Chair of Descendants who is currently undergoing treatment for Leukaemia. She gave a moving account of her story and appealed to everyone in the hall to join the register. Information was handed out regarding the ACLT Charity. People donated £110. 55, which has been deposited in the Charity’s account. #DonateforDaniel (please click here to add your support)

Descendants is very grateful for your support and hope you can continue to support the organisation as our 25th anniversary celebrations continue with our Achievement Awards on 27th October, 2017.

Sounds like a wonderful evening!

As Margaret says, don’t forget we are just days away from our Annual Achievement Awards on 27th October. Please click here for more information – we’ll see you there to continue the celebrations!
