A day to remember at the Unity Cup
Thank You, Brentford!

Descendants children and their families were given the chance to attend the Unity Cup football matches at Brentford's GTech Community Stadium in May, thanks to Brentford's community staff.

30 tickets were made available across three exciting match days:

Jamaica vs Trinidad – Tuesday 27th May, 7:45pm

Ghana vs Nigeria – Wednesday 28th May, 7:45pm

Unity Cup Final – Saturday 31st May, 12:30pm

This was a unique opportunity for so many children and families who might

not otherwise have had the chance to enjoy live international football in such

an electric setting. The energy in the stadium was incredible, and the joy on

the children's faces said it all.

One particularly funny moment came courtesy of a pair of 8-year-old twins who

turned full-time pundits for the day, complete with in-depth match analysis and

colourful commentary! Honestly, we think they gave the professionals a run for their

money. It was a powerful reminder of how experiences like these can inspire young people in unexpected and wonderful ways.

It was also a pleasure meeting members of the Brentford team in person. Their dedication to supporting community groups, especially those

connected to Brentford, truly shone through. Special thanks to Marcella Phelan MBE (BFC Trustee - Children & Families) and Rhiannon (EDI Manager) for their efforts in making all of this happen.

We’ve received an outpouring of positive messages from families who

attended, and we’ll be sharing a selection of those soon along with some beautiful photos from the day.

The Descendants Team

Descendants Experience the Barbarians vs All Blacks
at Gtech Stadium!

A huge thank you to the Brentford Community Team for kindly donating tickets for our families to attend the    exciting Barbarians vs. All Blacks rugby match at Gtech Stadium on Saturday 1st November 2025.

For many of our young people and their families, this was their very first time attending a live rugby game.

The atmosphere was electric, and it was wonderful to see the happiness on every ones faces as they watched the action unfold. Not forgetting the amazing sunshine weather we had. The children sitting next to me were excited to share that they had played rugby at school, explaining to me about game play and the rules.

All of our tickets were taken, and every family who joined us thoroughly enjoyed the experience. These kinds of opportunities create unforgettable memories, build confidence, and allow our children to feel part of something bigger within their community.

We are incredibly grateful to Brentford Community Team for their continued support and for recognising Descendants as a valued charity partner. Collaborations like this help us offer our families experiences they may not otherwise have access to. The impact is so powerful.
