Mind Body & Soul Health Day 2025

Mind, Body and Soul Health Day

Come and join us for the second leg of our project. Descendants’ Mind, Body and Soul Health Day is a free, vibrant celebration of wellness, culture, and community in the heart of Acton and Ealing. Rooted in African and Caribbean heritage, the event brings people together through yoga, health checks, mental health support, crafting, fitness, and nutritious food, empowering local families and friends to live well and thrive.

In partnership with the NHS and Council, it plays a vital role in addressing health disparities, sharing essential health information, promoting wellbeing, and honouring a proud collective legacy.

Windrush – A Legacy in Healthcare

Part 1 of our health awareness event was a virtual gathering hosted by Descendants on Friday 20th June 2025. We celebrated the rich heritage and profound contributions of African-Caribbean NHS professionals supported by West London NHS Trust.

The event united generations through personal storytelling and cultural reflection. The “Ask the Elders” panel offered wisdom from healthcare pioneers who shared lifestyle practices and guidance rooted in resilience and community care.

Alongside honouring the past, the event illuminated present-day healthcare disparities that continue to affect African-Caribbean communities from access gaps in preventative care to underrepresentation in clinical leadership. A poignant highlight was the journey of a young aspiring medic, who shared their  pathway into the medical profession and the pivotal role of mentorship, encouragement, and cultural pride.

This intergenerational exchange empowered attendees with insight, inspiration, and a collective call to action for a more inclusive and equitable health system.
