Our Descendants Arts from Africa Half Term Holiday Project, held from 17th–19th February 2026 at Acton Gardens Community Centre, was an outstanding success. Over three inspiring and energetic days filled with creativity, culture,
The project welcomed young people from across the local area to explore Africa’s rich artistic heritage through a series of hands-on workshops. Each day was packed with activity, learning, and artistic expression, giving participants the opportunity to develop new skills while deepening their understanding of African art and culture.
A collaborative main art installation, inspired by a South African artist, which brought together ideas developed throughout the three days
Throughout the project, children benefited in multiple ways beyond the artistic outcomes. The practical, hands-on activities supported the development of fine motor skills, particularly through weaving, bracelet making, and detailed craft work. Participants strengthened their creativity, perseverance, and concentration as they worked through challenges, refined their designs, and completed their pieces.
The group setting also encouraged positive social interaction and friendship building. Young people collaborated, shared materials and ideas, supported one another, and built new connections in a safe and welcoming environment.
The young people showed incredible enthusiasm, focus, and imagination. Many stepped outside their comfort zones, trying art forms they had never experienced before. It was inspiring to see their confidence grow as they experimented with materials, shared ideas, and proudly completed their individual and group pieces.
A highlight of the project was the large-scale collaborative installation inspired by South African artist Andrew Ntshabele This final piece reflected not only artistic skill, but teamwork, cultural appreciation, and collective pride. It stood as a powerful visual celebration of African heritage interpreted through the voices of our young participants.
We are incredibly proud of what was achieved over the three days and grateful to everyone who supported and participated in making this project such a success.

Register your children here today!
We are delighted to launch our “New Year, New Me” project for Autumn Term 1. This initiative is designed to help students grow in confidence, develop positive habits, and work together with a strong sense of self-belief and teamwork.
At the heart of the project is the “I am, I can, I will” attitude. By using positive affirmations, students will learn how to reframe their thinking, boost self-esteem, and recognise their potential. Just as importantly, They will learn to encourage and celebrate the achievements of other participants.
