Descendants Ealing Mayor’s Charity of the year!

On Tuesday 7th

May 2019, at Ealing Town Hall, founder of Descendants Margaret Noel and committee member Denise Charles were invited to attend the investiture of the new Mayor of Ealing, Councillor Abdullah Gulaid.

Dr Gulaid is the first mayor of African Somali origin, and to see his investiture was an incredible, moving experience.

We were delighted and honoured when the new mayor announced to the meeting that Descendants was to be his chosen charity for 2019-2020!!

Following the formal event, we were treated to a meal, speeches and a Somali singer, followed by YSB (Youth Street Beats) who gave a spectacular performance, including a special Somali tribute dance to the new mayor.
